Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Intern - Procurement Buyer for Summer 2027 in Pittsburgh, PA. This paid internship offers real-world projects, mentorship, and exposure to a global leader in urban transit.

You will support procurement activities, assist with RFPs/RFQs, and help prepare contract documentation while gaining hands-on experience in the dynamics of Hitachi Rail's missions and impact.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a 4-year degree in engineering, business/economics, or law.
• Graduation date between December 2027 and December 2028.
• Eligible for a Summer 2027 internship with Hitachi Rail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and report procurement spend at Procurement Geographic Area Level.
• Assist with RFP/RFQ documentation for local procurement.
• Assist in PO/final contract documentation for local procurement commodities.
• Support supplier performance analysis via feedback from internal customers.
• Contribute to cost-reduction procurement actions.

We're looking for eligible students to join Hitachi Rail! Hiring for May 2027 through August 2027.

Accountabilities:

• Ensure periodical spend reporting at Procurement Geographic Area Level
• Support local procurement activity execution preparing RFP / RFQ documentations
• Support the preparation and execution of PO/ Final Contract Documentation for relevant local procurement commodity
• Support supplier performance analysis through performance reviews by collecting feedback from relevant units/internal customers
• Support business functions on specific required procurement actions aimed to achieve cost reduction

Required Skills/ Knowledge:

• 0-3 years of Procurement expertise
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Microsoft Windows operating system education/experience
• Microsoft Office, EXCEL and WORD education/experience

Desired Skills/ Knowledge:

• Experience with SAP and SAP E-Auctions

Education:

• Current Engineering, Business (Economics), or Law student at a 4-year university with a graduation date between December 2027 and December 2028.

Languages:

• English Proficiency
