Job summary

Hitachi Rail STS USA, INC. in Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking an enthusiastic Intern – Procurement Buyer for Summer 2027. You will gain hands-on experience on real-world procurement projects, support RFP/RFQ processes, and help drive cost-reduction initiatives under mentorship.

Eligible students in engineering, economics, or law programs will work with a global leader in urban transit, with paid compensation and opportunities for professional growth in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• 0-3 years of procurement experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with Windows and Microsoft Office (Excel/Word).

Responsibilities

• Ensure periodical spend reporting at Procurement Geographic Area Level.
• Prepare RFP/RFQ documents for local procurement activity.
• Prepare and execute PO/Final Contract documentation for procurement items.
• Support supplier performance analysis through reviews and feedback.
• Assist cost-reduction initiatives through procurement actions.

We’re looking for eligible students to join Hitachi Rail! Hiring for May 2027 through August 2027.

Accountabilities:

• Ensure periodical spend reporting at Procurement Geographic Area Level
• Support local procurement activity execution preparing RFP / RFQ documentations
• Support the preparation and execution of PO/ Final Contract Documentation for relevant local procurement commodity
• Support supplier performance analysis through performance reviews by collecting feedback from relevant units/internal customers
• Support business functions on specific required procurement actions aimed to achieve cost reduction

Required Skills/ Knowledge:

• 0-3 years of Procurement expertise
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Microsoft Windows operating system education/experience
• Microsoft Office, EXCEL and WORD education/experience

Desired Skills/ Knowledge:

• Experience with SAP and SAP E-Auctions

Education:

• Current Engineering, Business (Economics), or Law student at a 4‑year university with a graduation date between December 2027 and December 2028.

Languages:

• English Proficiency
