Hitachi Rail STS USA, INC. is offering an enthusiastic Intern – Manufacturing Planner for Summer 2027 in Batesburg-Leesville, SC.

You will work on real-world projects, gain hands-on experience in production planning, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support planning activities. The role requires 40 hours per week on site, enrollment in a 4-year program (Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or related), and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing Bachelors or Masters in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and MS Office Suite.
  • Junior or Senior at a 4-year university with graduation date between Dec 2027 and Dec 2028.
  • Available to work 40 hours per week onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarity with production planning data and SAP is welcomed.
  • Provide actionable insights from production data.
  • Support Planning Manager and team with analyses and process improvements.
  • Develop and integrate documentation for consistency and accuracy.
  • Provide project status updates as required.

Accountabilities
  • Familiarity with production planning software (SAP) is welcomed
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to interpret production data and provide actionable insights
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work with complex data and ensure precision in reporting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with cross‑functional teams
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Develop skills and knowledge in a real‑world manufacturing environment
  • Receive guidance and mentorship from experienced production planning professionals
  • Assist Planning manager and team with analysis and other procedural improvements
  • Take an active part in the execution of development projects
  • Develop and integrate documentation processes to ensure consistency and accuracy
  • Provide project status updates as required
  • Works under close supervision of the Planning Manager
Required Skills/Knowledge
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Current Junior or Senior at a 4‑year university with a graduation date between December 2027 and December 2028
  • Must be available to work 40 hours per week onsite
Languages
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal
