Job summary

First Merchants Corporation is offering a 12-week paid Summer Internship Program in the United States (Michigan). The Private Wealth Advisors team provides exposure to investment management, private banking, and client management while working on analytics, presentations, projects, and product development.

Interns will gain hands-on experience across business areas, participate in community service, and network with senior leadership during Meet & Greet events at First Merchants Bank.

Qualifications

• Full-time Bachelor (or higher) degree-seeking student at an accredited college or university.
• Available to work 40 hours per week from May 17–August 6, 2027.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Demonstrated interest in the industry and/or specific area of interest.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Be able and willing to travel periodically throughout the First Merchants footprint, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Support the Private Wealth Advisors team in day-to-day business with exposure to business development, investment management, private banking, client management, retirement plan services, operations, fiduciary and consumer investment services.
• Spend time in analytics, presentation, projects, and product development within the Private Wealth Advisors Team.
• Learn overview of how a private wealth practice works and the various lines of business within the practice.
• Prepare for, execute, and debrief client presentations.
• Participate in coordinated community service projects and networking events with executives.

Summer Internship Program Overview

First Merchants internship opportunities are available in a variety of business areas including Credit Administration, Commercial Banking, Consumer Banking, Treasury Management, Private Wealth, Technology, Human Resources, Marketing, Risk, Operations, and other business functions.

Department Internship Duties & Responsibilities

The Private Wealth Advisors Intern will support the First Merchants Private Wealth Advisors team in conducting day to day business with exposure to business development, investment management, private banking, client management, retirement plan services, operations, as well as fiduciary and consumer investment services. The Intern will spend a significant amount of time in each discipline including areas of analytics, presentation, projects, and product development.

2. The different lines of business inside of the practice and how they work together to meet client needs
3. How to prepare for, execute, and debrief a client presentation

In addition to the learning objectives, all interns will participate in a coordinated community service project. • Be authorized to work in the United States.
