Job summary

First Merchants Bank is offering a paid 12-week Summer Internship Program for college students. The Treasury Management internship provides exposure to client onboarding, portfolio management and sales activities, with mentorship and leadership networking throughout the program.

Participants will complete real projects, attend development events, and contribute to a community service initiative while presenting learnings to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Be a full-time Bachelor degree‑seeking student at an accredited college or university.
• Be available to work 40 hours per week May 17–August 6, 2027.
• Be authorized to work in the United States.
• Have demonstrated interest in the industry and/or area of interest.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Be able and willing to travel periodically within the First Merchants footprint.

Responsibilities

• Learn roles within the treasury management department including Treasury Solutions.
• Onboard new customers, focus on client experience and portfolio management.
• Learn the sales cycle, relationship banking and whole-bank selling techniques.
• Gain hands-on sales experience.
• Learn treasury management sales management.

Summer Internship Program Overview

First Merchants internship opportunities are available in a variety of business areas including Credit Administration, Commercial Banking, Consumer Banking, Treasury Management, Private Wealth, Technology, Human Resources, Marketing, Risk, Operations, and other business functions.

Department Internship Duties & Responsibilities

Below is what you can expect to learn from an internship in our Treasury Management Department at First Merchants Bank:

• Learn the roles within the treasury management department including Treasury Solutions
• Learn the importance of onboarding new customers, the client experience, and portfolio management
• Learn the sales cycle, relationship banking, and whole-bank selling techniques

In addition to the learning objectives, all interns will participate in a coordinated community service project. Interns will have an opportunity to network with Executive and Senior Leadership at our Intern Meet & Greet event and will present a summary of their experience at the conclusion of the internship program.
