Job summary

Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, part of Catholic Health, seeks a Pharmacy Intern (P2–P4) to support pharmaceutical operations under supervision. Per Diem shifts include days and evenings with potential weekend/holiday rotation, with varied hours from early morning to late evening based on department needs.

Qualifications

• Pharmacist supervision required for all actions before reaching the patient.
• Pharmacy intern must progress toward graduation within a 5 year period.
• Intern must be enrolled in ACPE-accredited program and maintain compliance with hospital policies.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with pharmacy practice rules and hospital regulations.

Work Schedule: Days and Evenings with Weekend and Holiday Rotation

Hours: Varied shifts. Primarily days/evenings with hours as early as 7:00am and as late as 11:00pm based on department needs

Summary In conjunction with the Director of Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacists and Lead Clinical Pharmacist, ensures compliance with the rules and regulations that govern the practice of Pharmacy within the hospital and all extension services.

Education

• Pharmacy Intern Level 2 (P2, P3, P4)
• Successfully completed the first professional year of study in an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy (ACPE) program and is progressing towards graduation which is anticipated within a 5 year period

Knowledge, Skills And Ability

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Good manual dexterity
• Knowledge of math
• Ability to operate the following machinery: Personal computer, laminar flow hood, biological hood, compounding devices, telephone, fax machine, hospital computer systems, copy machine, prescription balance, automated medication dispensing machines
• Intern understands limitations of job -- everything must be approved by a Registered Clinical Pharmacist prior to it reaching the patient
