Job summary

NV5 is seeking an enthusiastic Intern - MEP Engineering to assist in developing and producing engineering plans for electrical, HVAC, and fire protection systems on a variety of building projects. You will work under the supervision of a licensed engineer and contribute to CAD/Revit deliverables.

Qualifications include pursuing a BS degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, etc.) and prior AutoCAD/Revit exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, etc.).
• Formal AutoCAD and Revit training preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with familiarity with Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Lay out engineering drawings using AutoCAD/Revit under supervision.
• Modify or finalize design documents from rough plans.
• May perform field surveys to determine existing conditions.
• May assist with engineering calculations as directed by staff.
• Produce drawings in AutoCAD/Revit from marked-up drawings.
• Other duties to support smooth operation of the firm.

Assist engineers and designers in the development and production of engineering plans and specifications on a variety of projects. The systems designed at NV5 include Electrical, HVAC, and Fire Protection and Plumbing systems for a wide variety of building types.

Responsibilities

• Lay out engineering drawings using AutoCAD/Revit. Transfer the design from verbal or written instructions to CAD/Revit under the supervision of an engineer, senior engi-neer or project manager.
• Take engineer's rough plan mark-ups and modify or finalize design documents using AutoCAD/Revit.
• May perform field surveys to determine existing conditions.
• May assist with engineering calculations as directed by engineering staff.
• Produce drawings in AutoCAD/Revit from marked-up, not-to-scale drawings provided by engineers.
• Other duties may include cutting/trimming of plans, photocopying, plotting, scanning, packaging, mailing, and other miscellaneous duties which may be required from time to time to assist in the smooth operation of the firm.

Qualifications

• Must be working towards a BS Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, etc.)
• Formal training in AutoCAD and Revit preferred.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with familiarity with Microsoft Products such as Excel and Outlook.
