Job summary

LEO A DALY invites an engineering intern to support mechanical design and project documentation in our Omaha office. You will assist in designing, configuring, and detailing HVAC and piping systems to enhance building performance and comfort, under supervision of licensed engineers.

Work will include design calculations, report preparation, and deliverable drawings such as site, HVAC, piping, and control diagrams.

Qualifications

• Must be working toward ABET-accredited Mechanical or Architectural Engineering degree.
• Proficiency with REVIT MEP preferred.
• Experience with load sizing and energy modeling software a plus.
• Strong communication skills in graphic, verbal, and written form.

Responsibilities

• Performs Revit modeling and detailing
• Assists to conduct site investigations and observations.
• Assists to prepare narratives, reports, hand and computer calculations, drawing and specification documents in accordance with a high degree of quality, yet with regard to project schedule and budget constraints.
• Assists to perform cross-discipline discussions and coordination.
• Additional assignments may include attending client and internal meetings, assisting with performing construction contract administration, and assisting with marketing/business development activities.

Description

As an Intern you will assist in designing, configuring, and detailing HVAC and piping systems solutions that enhance the functionality, sustainability, and comfort of the built environment.

Interns work as part of a multi-discipline team performing mechanical engineering design during all phases of multiple simultaneous projects. You will perform assignments under the direct supervision of one or more licensed mechanical engineers and concentrate on specific design or technical documentation tasks that contribute to overall projects. Assignments will include performing design calculations, preparing reports, and producing deliverable drawing sets including site plans, HVAC plans, piping plans, controls diagrams, details, schematics, and schedules.

Requirements

• Must be working towards graduation of ABET-accredited degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis.
• Knowledge and proficiency with computer software including REVIT MEP is a preferred.
• Knowledge and proficiency using load, system sizing, and energy modeling software is a plus.
• Strong graphic, verbal, and written communication skills and knowledge of other building systems.
• Positive attitude and commitment to being an active participant working as part of a multi-discipline team.
• Active involvement and demonstrated leadership skills in extracurricular activities on campus and in the community is preferred.

Pay range for this position varies between $20/hr-$25/hr, depending upon applicable experience.
