Hilmar Cheese Company in Hilmar, CA offers a 10-week paid internship designed to enrich skills in computer science, engineering, or information technology. Interns collaborate with mentors on real projects, visit dairy facilities, and gain insight into our production systems that support wholesome dairy products.

You will tackle a tangible problem, learn from senior leaders, and have the chance for future full-time employment.

A Typical Day

At Hilmar Cheese Company we offer a 10-week paid, skill-enriching, innovation-generating summer advantage. Our interns innovate, collaborate and deliver. We’re counting on our interns to bring fresh ideas and own exciting projects in the works.

As an intern at our Hilmar, CA site, you’ll be exposed to real life business situations and will work on projects alongside our employees. Your summer with Hilmar Cheese will include dairy visits, community projects, and even a chance to pick the brain of our senior leaders. You’ll have the opportunity to gain insight on how we create wholesome dairy products, systems and services that improve lives around the world.

Job Responsibilities

• Work on a technological or process problem and gather the requirements, find and evaluate the possible solution, create a prototype and troubleshoot the derived solutions to the technical challenges.
• You will use your technical knowledge and problem solving techniques with the assistance of your mentor
• Partner with various teams including security, networking and infrastructure.
• Understand the business operations from both a strategic and tactical perspective

What You Will Need

• Completion of sophomore year at a college or university and working towards a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information technology or related field
• Basic knowledge of MS Office products: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel
• Strong applied technical skills and analytical problem-solving skills
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Reliable transportation to and from work

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The role has frequent occasions that require prolonged walking or standing, lifting/ carrying/handling moderate weight objects on a regular basis. Is required to wear PPE and have a regular presence in manufacturing and warehouse environments in both temperature controlled and uncontrolled locations. Must frequently interact with people verbally. Specific details of the essential functions of the position is available in the Job Safety Analysis, made available on request.
