Hilmar Cheese Company offers a 10-week paid internship in Engineering & Technical Services at the Hilmar, CA site. Interns will collaborate with experienced engineers on real projects and gain hands-on experience in dairy manufacturing processes.

You will develop analytical skills, engage in data collection and problem-solving, and have the chance to contribute to cost-saving initiatives while exploring potential full-time opportunities after graduation.

Qualifications

• Must be a sophomore pursuing an engineering-related degree.
• Basic knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Strong applied technical and analytical problem-solving skills.

Responsabilités

• Find optimal, cost-effective methods for manufacturing dairy products.
• Perform sampling, data collection and analysis.
• Create proposals to reduce operating costs and improve quality.
• Identify causes of waste and recommend actions to eliminate it.
• Develop standard work processes to implement improvements.
• Validate electrical prints are up to date and stored properly.
• Optimize utilities (steam, refrigeration, air, water, wastewater).

At Hilmar Cheese Company we offer a 10-week paid, skill-enriching, innovation-generating summer advantage. Our interns innovate, collaborate and deliver. We’re counting on our interns to bring fresh ideas and own exciting projects in the works.

As an intern at our Hilmar, CA site, you’ll be exposed to real life business situations and will work on projects alongside our employees. Your summer with Hilmar Cheese will include dairy visits, community projects, and even a chance to pick the brain of our senior leaders. You’ll have the opportunity to gain insight on how we create wholesome dairy products, systems and services that improve lives around the world.

Job Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities and Potential Projects are as follows:

• Finding the optimum, most cost-effective methods of manufacturing dairy products.
• Sampling, data collection, and analysis.
• Creating proposals to reduce operating costs, process capacity constraints, product losses, and product quality variation.
• Identification of the causes of waste within one or more manufacturing processes and recommendations for actions to eliminate the waste
• Development of standard work processes to implement and sustain identified improvement opportunities
• Validate all electrical prints are up to date and accurate and stored properly.
• Utility optimization of steam, refrigeration system, compressed air, domestic water, and waste water.

What You Will Need

• Completion of Sophomore year at a university and working towards a degree in Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Manufacturing or related
• Basic knowledge of MS Office products: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel
• Strong applied technical skills and analytical problem-solving skills
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Reliable transportation to and from work

Working surface is primarily concrete. Where standing is required, there are rubber mats which are one-half inch thick.
