Tallgrass MLP Operations, LLC invites you to join the IEC Engineering internship (Finance) in Lakewood, CO. You will work with experienced engineers to deploy and support PLCs, HMIs, and automation projects, gaining practical industry knowledge.

This temporary full-time internship runs May–August 2027 for 10 weeks. Applicants are enrolled in a Bachelor's degree with an expected graduation date between December 2026 and May 2028, and must be ready to contribute to process improvement and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Learn instrumentation, electrical, and controls concepts and support automation projects.
  • Assist with deploying new control systems and upgrading existing infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, instrumentation and electrical gear to gain hands-on experience.
  • Help manage and improve a standard library of programming objects and templates.

What else do you need to know:

Our internships are temporary full-time positions, in-person/hybrid at our Lakewood office. We will host our Summer 2027 interns from May-August for 10 weeks.

Compensation And Other Benefits

  • Pay Range $26.18-$37.09 USD hourly
  • The final pay for this role will depend on a variety of factors, including a specific candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and working location. The total compensation package for this role may also include paid time off, a housing stipend, and more.

What will you do:

You will work side by side with experienced professionals as contributing members of diverse work teams who bring vision and opportunity to the forefront. As a Tallgrass Intern, you will partner with various departments in support of multiple projects on existing assets and operations, as well as the exploration and development of new avenues and opportunities. The internship is intended to help you develop your work skills and knowledge while providing a link between your educational goals and career objectives.

You can expect to:

  • Learn about Instrumentation, Electrical, and Controls by helping the IEC team deploy and support industrial automation control systems, including PLCs and HMIs.
  • Assist with projects to implement new control systems and upgrade existing infrastructure.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and gain practical experience with PLCs, instrumentation, and electrical gear.
  • Establish a deep understanding of HMI applications and Python programming by helping to manage and improve a standard library of programming objects and templates deployed company wide.
