Job summary

GEI’s New York City office is seeking motivated interns for Summer 2026 to assist with projects nationwide in geotechnical, civil, structural, or waterfront engineering. Interns will learn from our team and gain experience across multiple disciplines, including data management, field documentation, and proposals.

Responsibilities include supporting analyses and design, performing computations, editing drawings in AutoCAD, and helping prepare reports.

Qualifications

  • Pursuit of a B.S. or M.S. in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering.
  • Soil mechanics or structural analysis coursework preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years in a technical degree program.

Job description

Intern - Geotechnical, Civil, Structural, or Waterfront

GEI’s New York City office is seeking motivated interns to assist with projects throughout the U.S. in Summer 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from our team and gain a wide range of experience in the fields of engineering or environmental science.

  • Assist with engineering and/or scientific analyses and design.
  • Perform computations, prepare spreadsheets, and prepare and edit drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Assist with preparing proposals and reports.
  • Assist with data management and analysis, and preparation of field documentation and reports
Minimum Qualifications
  • Pursuit of one of the following:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering. Soil mechanics, structural analysis, or similar course work preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years in a technical degree program.
  • Excellent verbal andwritten communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel on assignment, if needed.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to work in the field, as needed.
  • Ability to perform field work in active construction sites without restrictions, and in inclement weather, if required.
