Job summary

GEI Consultants in New York, NY is seeking a Staff Civil/Structural Engineer with 1–3 years of experience to contribute to design and construction of hydraulic and waterfront structures, temporary works, and foundations. Under supervision, you will prepare analyses, drawings, specifications, and other deliverables.

Key qualifications include a BS in Civil Engineering, FE designation, and experience with STAAD, RISA, or SAP2000.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering from ABET/EAC accredited program.
  • FE designation required or pursuing FE licensure.
  • 1–3 years of professional experience in geotechnical, structural, or waterfront design.
  • Strong technical report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support evaluation and design for structural steel, reinforced concrete, excavation support, and foundations.
  • Develop preliminary through final engineering designs and deliverables.
  • Act as project structural engineer supporting the lead or engineer of record.
  • Perform construction oversight for heavy civil and structural projects.
  • Prepare and present evaluation results to internal teams.

Salary: USD 75000.00 - 85000.00 Annually

GEI has an immediate opening for a Staff Civil/Structural Engineer seeking experience in the design and construction of hydraulic structures, waterfront structures, temporary works, excavation support systems, and building foundations. Under supervision of senior staff, the Staff Civil/Structural Engineer will produce and/or review structural engineering analyses, reports, construction drawings, specifications, and other deliverables.

  • Supporting evaluation and design efforts for structural steel, reinforced concrete, excavation support systems, foundations, and other above and below grade structures, including preparing calculation packages.
  • Working on preliminary through final engineering designs; developing design recommendations and producing design deliverables; serving as a project structural engineer supporting the structural lead and/or engineer of record.
  • Performing engineering construction oversight of heavy civil, structural, and other types of projects.
  • Preparing and presenting technical presentations of evaluation results to internal team.
  • Supporting data management and analysis, technical report development, and assisting in preparation of technical presentations and proposals to clients and regulators.
  • Coordinating with the Design and Project Management Team to ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or similar from an EAC/ABET accredited institution.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) designation.
  • 1-3 years of full-time professional experience in either geotechnical, structural, or waterfront structures design.
  • Strong technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Experience with structural analysis programs such as STAAD, RISA, or SAP2000.
  • Willingness and ability to occasionally travel to perform field tasks and oversight as needed.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel on temporary assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree, or equivalent experience, in Structural Engineering or closely related field.
  • Experience with design software, such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, or Revit.
