Job summary

Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts seeks a part-time fundraising intern to support the major gifts and stewardship teams, participate in donor cultivation events, and assist with personalized donor communications.

You will manage donor and prospect information in Raiser's Edge, process donations, prepare receipts, help with member benefits activation, and contribute content for donor newsletters and the Wolf Trap members site. Onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays required in Virginia/DC area.

Qualifications

  • Strong MS Word and Excel skills; Raiser's Edge experience is helpful but not required.
  • Outstanding writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Efficient organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, creativity, and initiative.
  • Must be physically located in Virginia, Maryland, or DC for duration of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Be an integral part of Wolf Trap's fundraising department, working closely with the major gift and planned giving teams. You will participate in stewardship and cultivation events, assist with major gift solicitation strategy, and execution of personalized donor stewardship.
  • Manage donor and prospect information in donor database
  • Process mailed and online donations
  • Prepare gift receipts and acknowledgements
  • Field and respond to donor phone calls, emails, and inquiries
  • Assist with member benefits activation
  • Produce content for member and donor e-newsletters, My Wolf Trap, Wolf Traps members-only website, and other donor-facing communications
  • Assist with filing and other special projects as needed

APPLICATION DEADLINE

EXPECTED DURATION

12 weeks (part-time; up to 21 hours/week)

PAY RATE

$13.75/hour

LOCATION

Were pleased to consider applicants who will be physically located in and who will have a local address in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia for the duration of their employment. The Foundation does not offer fully remote work for any positions. Applicants who reside in any other state would be required to be physically located in and provide a local address in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia prior to starting work for Wolf Trap Foundation. If applicant cannot be onsite on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, an onsite schedule should be discussed if contacted for an interview.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong computer skills (MS Word and Excel), experience with Raiser's Edge software is helpful but not necessary
  • Outstanding writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Efficient organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Exceptional customer service skills, creativity, and initiative

  • Undergraduate students (must have completed at least 1 year of undergraduate study)
  • Graduate students
  • Recent graduates (up to 2 years out of school)
  • Career-changers currently enrolled in a degree program
  • International students (J-1 or F-1 Visa required)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75 percent of the time
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment (i.e. calculator, copier, printer, etc.)
  • Occasionally required to walk, stoop, bend and reach with arms
  • Lift/move up to 10 pounds infrequently
