Job summary

The Hartford in Hartford, CT seeks a Student Intern - HHSIAN within its Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) organization. This ten-week summer program offers hands-on risk projects, mentorship and events designed to build foundational risk management knowledge and leadership skills.

Successful interns may be extended into full-time ERM roles after graduation, with exposure to senior leadership and a capstone presentation showcasing your project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree with GPA 3.2+; graduation Jan 2027 or May 2028.
• Majors include Business, Finance, IT, Math, Economics, Geoscience, Statistics, Risk Management & Insurance, or Engineering.
• Interest in risk management and strong analytical/communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Over the ten weeks, develop knowledge of risk management and corporate skills through weekly trainings.
• Attend collaborative events with ERM teammates and leadership.
• Apply your education to a summer-long ERM project with a Capstone presentation to senior management.
• Receive 1-on-1 mentoring and on-the-job learning within ERM.

The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) organization helps the firm understand, manage and anticipate risk. Our goal is to proactively provide an independent assessment of the firm's risk while supporting the business segments' pursuit of profitable growth. ERM is responsible for traditional risks such as Financial & Market Risk, Insurance Risk, and Operational Risk, as well as understanding new and emerging risks such as Cyber Security and AI.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$25 - $26
