Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and development of site, utility, drainage, grading, stormwater, and related land infrastructure.
• Conduct research and gather project data to support engineering studies and reports.
• Utilize engineering software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office applications.
• Participate in project meetings and collaborate with engineers, planners, landscape architects, surveyors, and other professionals.
• Review plans, specifications, and permitting requirements.
• Participate in field visits and construction observations as needed.
• Maintain organized project files and documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Intern - Engineering Water/Wastewater to join our Lexington, KY office. This role is ideal for a motivated student pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline who is eager to gain hands-on experience supporting land development and infrastructure projects. As an intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers and technical professionals, contributing to meaningful projects while gaining exposure to the planning, design, and construction processes that shape the communities we serve. Through mentorship and collaboration, you will have the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects involving commercial, municipal, educational, residential, and recreational developments. This internship provides valuable technical experience and insight into the day-to-day responsibilities of engineering professionals within PRIME AE's Land practice.

What You\'ll Do

As an Intern - Engineering Water/Wastewater, you will support project teams with a variety of engineering and design tasks while learning about all phases of project delivery. You will assist with preparing plans, performing calculations, conducting research, and developing technical documents under the guidance of experienced engineers. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and gain hands-on experience using industry-standard software and engineering practices. You will also have the opportunity to participate in field visits, observe construction activities, and develop the technical and professional skills needed for a successful career in engineering.
