Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Herndon, VA invites an Intern in RF/Wireless Engineering to assist with design and analysis of complex components and to gain hands-on experience in defense technology.

The role requires pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field; you will work with engineers and suppliers, prepare drawings, interpret test results, and present findings. The position follows a 9/80 schedule with competitive pay and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Prepare component drawings and specifications for highly complex products (electro-optical, opto-mechanical or electro-mechanical).
• Support procurement and selection of parts; prepare nonstandard submittals and coordinate with labs to interpret test results.
• Communicate with program engineers, management, and customers on technical issues and status.
• Present results of analysis to engineers and customers to ensure understanding.
• Act as a technical consultant and review material data and test results to ensure conformance; work under supervision.
• Follow established procedures and guidance from senior staff.

Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked, and have every other Friday off

Job Description:

• Prepare component drawings and specifications for highly complex products that may be electro-optical, opto-mechanical or electro-mechanical in nature
• Provide support to engineering and purchasing for procurement and selection of parts and materials, prepare nonstandard part and material submittals, interface and work with inside and outside labs to interpret test results and define testing for the purposes of assuring that parts are compliant to requirements
• Effectively communicate with program engineers, management, and customers on technical issues and status of work
• Present results of analysis to program engineers and customers on a regular basis to ensure proper interpretation and understanding
• Act as a technical consultant in areas of expertise and to perform technical reviews of material/component quality documentation including supplier data, test results, etc. to assure conformance to stated requirements. Work is closely supervised
• Follow established procedures and specific, detailed instructions and/or guidance from more senior functional staff

Qualifications:

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree, or a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related technical degree at an accredited university.

PAY TRANSPARENCY:

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Virginia (Greater D.C. area) is $29.00 per hour - $53.50 per hour. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
