Job summary

ENGIE North America offers an internship in BESS Design (Utility Scale Renewables). This role supports utility-scale designs using AutoCAD and exposure to renewable energy policy, helping prepare design inputs and verify site criteria.

The Fall internship runs Sept 7, 2026 to Dec 31, 2026 with 20–40 hours per week. It follows a hybrid in-office policy; remote work is not available. Compliance with ENGIE safety policies is required.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical, mechanical or related engineering programs, or a related graduate program.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, and analytical thinking.
  • Direct experience in energy storage, wind or solar site design is a plus.
  • Experience with GIS, MS Excel macros, VBA scripting, or Python scripting is a plus.

Job description

Intern, BESS Design (Utility Scale Renewables)


As a Grid Scale Renewables BESS Design Intern, you will have an opportunity to gain site design skills, exposure to current renewable energy policy, and understand energy storage project development. You will work directly with ENGIE site design professionals to provide support for the growing portfolio of grid-scale projects in North America. As the intern, your responsibilities will include supporting utility-scale designs using AutoCAD. Additionally, you will learn how to support verifications of site design criteria and prepare design inputs and constraints.


What You’ll Bring



  • Currently a junior or senior working towards pursuing a Bachelor's degree in civil, electrical, mechanical or other related engineering programs, or a graduate student with experience in a closely related field

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD

  • Excellent oral and written communication, and presentation skills, with strong analytical thinking

  • Direct experience in energy storage, wind or solar site design is a plus

  • Experience with tools such as GIS, MS Excel macros, VBA scripting, or Python scripting is a plus

  • The Fall internship work term will be from September 7, 2026, to December 31, 2026 and with the ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, up to 40 hours per week for the Fall/Winter Intern session

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid in-office work policy and is not eligible for remote work

  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies


Compensation


Hourly Range: $25.50 USD hourly


This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
