Job summary

ENGIE North America is offering an Application Development Intern role in Houston as part of the Grid-Scale Renewables GIS team. You will support backend applications and help develop new tools, gaining hands-on database management experience and exposure to ESRI Enterprise environments in wind, solar, and storage projects.

  • Must be a junior or senior pursuing a degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
  • Technical background with analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; able to present ideas professionally and work in project teams
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle, including designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining tools and applications
  • Proficiency in Python or C#, relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server) and Windows operating systems
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and manage multiple assignments with accuracy and timeliness
  • GIS background and experience with GIS systems (ESRI products) is a plus
  • The Fall internship work term will be from September 7, 2026, to December 31, 2026, and with the ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, up to 40 hours per week for the Fall/Winter Intern session
  • This role is eligible for our hybrid in-office work policy and is not eligible for remote work
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

Job description

The Grid-Scale Renewables GIS team is responsible for spatial data management, visualization, and analysis in support of ENGIE North America’s utility-scale wind, solar, and battery storage platform. The Application Development Intern will play a critical role in the renewables development process by supporting our existing backend applications and helping to develop new tools for the team. As the Application Development Intern, you can expect to gain applied database management experience, exposure to and familiarity with an advanced ESRI Enterprise environment, and an understanding of wind, solar, and battery storage project development.

Compensation

Hourly Range: $25.50 USD hourly
