Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA, offers a Summer 2027 Intern – Artificial Intelligence (IT) program within Corporate Information Technology. You will tackle real-world AI challenges, work with data scientists, and gain experience through structured assignments during a 12-week internship.

The program includes hybrid work with remote capability and a housing stipend for students nationwide. Compensation includes hands-on Python, OCI, and Azure tasks and exposure to enterprise-scale data

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program with expected graduation Fall 2027 or Spring 2028.
• Minimum GPA 3.0 or equivalent; demonstrated internship/work/research participation.
• Willingness to learn, take initiative, and engage with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with developers/data scientists to develop, test, and deploy AI models.
• Work on data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model training tasks.
• Perform exploratory data analysis of business and manufacturing data to uncover insights.

TheIntern – Artificial Intelligence (IT)will:

• Collaborate with other developers/data scientists to develop, test, and deploy AI models.
• Work on data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model training tasks
• Perform exploratory data analysis of business and manufacturing process data to uncover insights and relationships
• Learn how to assess technology to select the best AI solution for each use case
• Conduct research on recent advancements in AI/ML and provide insights to the team and leadership
• Write and maintain clear documentation of models, experiments, and code.
• Collaborate with supervisors, business units, and resource unit leaders

Qualifications

Your Education, Skills, and Experience:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science or other related IT field with an expected graduation date in Fall 2027 or Spring 2028.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or equivalent
• Demonstrated internship, work, research, or extracurricular participation
• A willingness to learn and take initiative to understand the business
• Involved with at least 1 extracurricular activity
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
• Interns must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Educations, Skills, and Experience:

• Previous internship in Information Technology with a global employer
• A willingness to take initiative to understand the business
• Aptitude for problem solving
• Project experience with security tools or procedures
• Ability to manage projects and working within team in a fast-paced environment
• Leadership and strong decision-making skills

Compensation for this internship opportunity ranges between $20- $22 per hour. (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skillset, and/or location).

A relocation stipend in the amount of $3,600 will be provided to students located 50+ miles from the physical location of the internship.
