Job summary

Howmet Aerospace invites students to join its Corporate Information Technology team in Pittsburgh for a 12-week Intern – Artificial Intelligence (IT) program in Summer 2027. You will work on real-world AI projects, collaborate with developers and data scientists, and gain hands-on experience with Python, OCI, and Azure.

The internship offers a hybrid schedule with remote work capability and a housing stipend for students nationwide.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science or related IT field with an expected graduation date Fall 2027 or Spring 2028.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivalent
• Demonstrated internship, work, research, or extracurricular participation
• Willingness to learn and take initiative to understand the business
• Involved with at least 1 extracurricular activity

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with other developers/data scientists to develop, test, and deploy AI models.
• Work on data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model training tasks
• Perform exploratory data analysis of business and manufacturing data to uncover insights
• Learn how to assess technology to select the best AI solution for each use case
• Conduct research on recent advancements in AI/ML and provide insights to the team
• Write and maintain documentation of models, experiments, and code
• Collaborate with supervisors, business units, and resource unit leaders

TheIntern – Artificial Intelligence (IT)will:

Qualifications

Your Education, Skills, and Experience:

Interns must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Educations, Skills, and Experience:

Previous internship in Information Technology with a global employer

A willingness to take initiative to understand the business

Aptitude for problem solving

Project experience with security tools or procedures

Ability to manage projects and working within team in a fast‑paced environment

Leadership and strong decision‑making skills

Compensation for this internship opportunity ranges between $20- $22 per hour. (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skillset, and/or location).

A relocation stipend in the amount of $3,600 will be provided to students located 50+ miles from the physical location of the internship.
