Job summary

Milliken & Company is seeking R&D co-ops/interns for the 2027 calendar year to join our Encapsys team in Appleton, WI. This is a paid co-op/internship for students in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Chemistry, Biology/Microbiology programs.

Co-ops run January–August 2027 and May–December 2027. Responsibilities include designing and analyzing lab experiments, collaborating with engineers and scientists, and preparing reports and presentations.

Qualifications

  • Educational background includes individuals earning their B.S. or M.S. with at least a 3.00 GPA in any of the following programs, rising Juniors and Seniors preferred:

Encapsys (www.encapsys.com), now a part of Milliken & Company (www.milliken.com) is looking to hire student intern and co-ops for the 2027 calendar year to join our team in Appleton, WI. This is a competitively paid position being offered to students in a Chemical Engineering, Material Science/Engineering, Chemistry, Biology/Microbiology program.

Encapsys operates in the specialty chemicals industry. Holding over 75 encapsulation patents, Encapsys is a global leader in encapsulation technologies within two primary business segments - Fragrance and Agriculture. Encapsys operates highly scalable encapsulation processes that deliver superior products.

Encapsys takes pride in providing students with opportunities to build strong resumes through matching individual interests with available projects. Encapsys provides projects with a high level of responsibility that has strong impacts on the bottom line. Students will work on both collaborative and independent projects in conjunction with the engineer/scientist project leaders. Each student is assigned a mentor to provide guidance through the processes of training, developing, and contributing.

Research and development plays a vital role in our position as a leader in the encapsulation market. Ongoing investment in R&D will continue to enable us to develop core competencies in encapsulation processes and applications and grow our business with new and existing customers.

Co-ops available for January - August 2027 and May - December 2027.
Typical job duties for an R&D co-op/intern include:
  • Designing, planning, conducting and analyzing lab experiments
  • Partnering with engineers/scientists on Lab, pilot or production experimental trials
  • Producing written summary reports and presentations

Education, experience and qualifications:
  • Educational background includes individuals earning their B.S. or M.S. with at least a 3.00 GPA in any of the following programs, rising Juniors and Seniors preferred:
