Job summary

Universal Logistics Holdings, Inc. in Avon, Indiana seeks a Ground Person progressing to Hostler Driver to move containers and trailers in the intermodal yard. Training will last at least two weeks and include crane-operator guidance and safety procedures.

You will haul and position cargo, inspect equipment, record movements, and coordinate with dispatchers, all while following safety rules and maintaining accurate logs. This role offers growth opportunities within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Experience in intermodal rail transport preferred.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and physical environments.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate hostler trucks to move containers and trailers within the terminal yard.
• Follow dispatch instructions and prioritize tasks for timely movements.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe terminal yard and manage container/trailer storage.
• Document container movements in the system and keep accurate records.
