Qualifications

• 3 years forestry work experience minimum.
• Bachelor’s degree in forestry may substitute 1 year of experience; an associate degree may substitute 6 months.
• Knowledge of dendrology, forest measurements, and forest inventory data collection.
• Ability to design and scale timber sales; knowledge of silviculture.
• Ability to use GIS, aerial photography, and surveys for mapping and data collection.
• Ability to earn NWCG FFT2 within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and analyze forestry sub-program tasks at the Area level.
• Visit forest stands, collect data, and develop silviculture prescriptions.
• Administer active timber sales and oversee loggers for compliance.
• Use GIS and 4Trees to input data, create maps, and manage databases.
• Engage in wildfire prevention and suppression activities when needed.
