Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is seeking an Intermediate Forester in Effie, MN. The Forestry Specialist Intermediate will manage forestry sub-program tasks, administer timber sales, and perform field data collection to support forest management plans, wildlife habitat, and policy compliance.

Responsibilities include leading field teams, applying silviculture prescriptions, and using GIS/4Trees for data analysis and mapping. Travel and occasional weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Completion of forestry degree or equivalent experience.
• Ability to collect inventory data and apply silviculture knowledge.
• Experience with GIS, aerial photography, and surveys for mapping.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and analyze forestry sub-program tasks.
• Visit forest stands, collect data, develop silviculture prescriptions.
• Administer timber sales and supervise loggers as needed.
• Use GIS/4Trees for data input and mapping.
• Engage in wildfire prevention and respond to incidents.
• Lead field teams and coordinate with partners and stakeholders.
