As demand for our client’s services grows, they are expanding their talented electrical team in Birmingham, seeking an Intermediate/Senior Electrical Design Engineer to deliver innovative solutions for their clients. This role offers diverse projects that will enhance your engineering skills across all RIBA project stages for new and refurbished facilities.

The team structure provides quality mentoring and coaching to support your development as you expand your knowledge and experience. Their projects span all sectors of the construction industry, fostering cross-pollination of ideas and innovative solutions, encouraging you to rethink standards and deliver high-quality engineered responses.

What you need to do to be effective in this role:

1. Work as part of a design team delivering detailed electrical designs.
2. Proven experience in electrical design within a consultancy or similar environment, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
3. Knowledge of relevant standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., BS 7671, Building Regulations).
4. Ideally, knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and calculation tools (e.g., Electrical-OM, Amtech, Dialux).
5. Designing site-specific equipment as required.
6. Liaising closely with other design professionals, including structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors, both in-house and external project teams.
7. Advising clients and architects on energy use and conservation to minimize environmental impact and reduce the carbon footprint.

The skills and experience required:

• An accredited Building Services degree or higher educational qualification.
• Experience in a similar role.
• Ideally, chartered or working towards chartered engineer status with a suitable institution.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate complex issues between clients and project teams.
• Willingness to learn, with high diligence and organizational skills.

The client operates a CIBSE-accredited mentor scheme for registration with the Engineering Council to obtain CEng.
