Job summary

DES Architects + Engineers seeks a Job Captain - Interiors to translate design concepts into constructible documentation, drawings, and specifications for interior projects. You will lead development, coordinate with trades, ensure code compliance, and manage detailed technical deliverables, with Revit and Bluebeam proficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of dedicated interior design experience with technical documentation.
• Proficient in translating design concepts into construction drawings and specs.
• Strong knowledge of building codes and accessibility standards (e.g., California Building Code, ADA).
• Experience with DD, CD, and CA phases; adept at coordinating with multi-discipline teams.
• Hybrid work experience and ability to work onsite in Redwood City or San Francisco.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of interior design packages with code-compliant drawings.
• Coordinate concept to permit-ready documentation with the design team.
• Direct subcontractors and trades during permit documentation for design intent integration.
• Collaborate across disciplines to ensure technical coordination of interior elements.
• Gather data from manufacturers and vendors to confirm specifications and materials.
• Develop interior specification sections with appropriate materials and products.
• Perform rigorous QC of project documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Review project budgets for alignment with documents and standards.
• Assist with submittal reviews for conformance to design intent.
