Job summary

AlphaX in Pensacola, FL is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to prepare accurate bids for commercial interior projects, focusing on drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and related finishes.

You will review drawings, perform quantity takeoffs, develop cost estimates, evaluate subcontractor quotes, and coordinate with project teams to ensure competitive, detail‑oriented proposals.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Hands-on estimating with drywall, metal framing, ceilings, flooring or related interior finishes.
• Ability to read drawings, specs, contracts and bid documents.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs, budgeting and bid prep.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, PlanSwift or On-Screen Takeoff.
• Strong analytical, math, organizational and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for interior construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, contracts and bid documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, material and subcontractor costs.
• Develop competitive estimates using market data and historical costs.
• Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes and verify scope coverage.
• Prepare bid proposals with pricing, scope, exclusions and alternatives.
• Coordinate with project managers, field teams and clients on scope and pricing.
• Maintain estimating records and bid tracking logs.
• Monitor labor rates and market trends; update estimates as needed.
• Participate in pre-bid/site visits and post-bid reviews.
