Job summary

United States Army Reserve is seeking an interior electrician to install and maintain the Army's interior electrical systems. You will install transformers, panels, switches and lighting, read blueprints, and repair wiring as needed.

Training includes 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and seven weeks of Advanced Individual Training. ASVAB Electronics (EL) 93 is required to qualify for this role, with future civilian opportunities through the PaYS program.

Qualifications

• ASVAB Electronics (EL) score of 93 or higher.
• Meets DoD requirements to serve in the Army.
• Basic combat training and advanced individual training required.

Responsibilities

• Install transformers, junction boxes, circuit breakers, service panels, switches, boxes and lightning rods.
• Read blueprints, wire plans and repair orders to determine layouts.
• Test equipment for operational conduction of circuits.
• Inspect power distribution systems, shorts in wires and faulty equipment.
• Repair and replace faulty wiring and lighting fixtures.

Job description

Overview

The interior electrician is primarily responsible for the installation and maintenance for all of the Army’s interior electrical systems.

Job Duties

• Install transformers, junction boxes, circuit breakers, service panels, switches, electrical boxes and lightning rods
• Read blueprints, wire plans and repair orders to determine layouts/repair
• Test equipment for the operational conduction of circuits
• Inspect power distribution systems, shorts in wires and faulty equipment
• Repair and replace faulty wiring and lighting fixtures

Requirements

Must meet DoD requirements. Those who want to serve must first take the ASVAB, a series of tests that helps you better understand your strengths and identify which Army jobs are best for you.

Training

Job training for interior electrician requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and seven weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field with on-the-job instructions, including on-the-job instruction for installation and repair.
