Job summary

Poltrona Frau Group North America in New York City seeks an experienced Interior Designer to provide design support to the Architecture & Design and DOS sales teams for our luxury brands Poltrona Frau, Cassina, Cappellini, Zanotta, and Ceccotti Collezioni.

You will translate requirements into precise furniture solutions, produce 2D/3D drawings, renderings and client presentations, and collaborate with architects, dealers, and clients to accelerate project opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Interior Architecture, or a related field.
  • Approximately 3–5+ years of relevant professional experience in high-end furniture, interior design, architecture, hospitality, or luxury interiors.
  • Experience with luxury furniture brands and high-end interiors.
  • Strong knowledge of furniture planning and interior space planning.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD / DWG and producing professional furniture plans.
  • Strong 3D modeling and visualization skills.
  • Proficiency with SketchUp, Rhino, 3ds Max, Revit or similar software.
  • Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop and InDesign; Microsoft Office / PowerPoint.
  • Experience creating professional client-facing presentations.
  • Ability to translate architectural drawings into furniture layouts and specifications.
  • Strong visual sensitivity, organization, and project management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; collaborative with sales, designers, architects, dealers and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed furniture floor plans, space plans and layouts for projects across residential, hospitality, workplace and commercial sectors.
  • Translate architectural plans and client requirements into furniture solutions across multiple brands.
  • Prepare furniture layouts, dimensions, and relationships; review drawings with project requirements.
  • Develop preliminary furniture specifications and schedules to support project development.
  • Produce 2D CAD drawings and DWG furniture plans; develop 3D models, renderings and visuals.
  • Create furniture configurations using company product/configuration software and other platforms.
  • Develop elevations and visual materials; translate product data into clear design docs.
  • Maintain digital libraries of products, CAD blocks, 3D models, finishes and materials.
  • Support A&D and DOS in client presentations, mood boards, furniture selections and product imagery.
  • Assist sales and A&D teams with requirements, finishes and technical questions; support pricing exercises.

Position Overview

Poltrona Frau Group is seeking a talented and highly organized Interior Designer to join our New York team and provide dedicated design support to the Architecture & Design (A&D) organization and the Director of Showroom (DOS) sales team across our portfolio of internationally recognized Italian furniture brands: Poltrona Frau, Cassina, Cappellini, Zanotta, and Ceccotti Collezioni.

This is a hands-on design role combining interior architecture, furniture planning, product knowledge, visualization, specification support, and client presentation development.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of high-end residential, hospitality, workplace, and/or commercial interiors and will be comfortable working with architects, interior designers, dealers, sales professionals, and end clients.

The Interior Designer will help transform client requirements into thoughtful furniture solutions and compelling presentations, while supporting the A&D and sales teams throughout the specification and project development process.

Key Responsibilities
Design & Space Planning
  • Develop detailed furniture floor plans, space plans and furniture layouts for residential, hospitality, workplace, and commercial projects.
  • Translate architectural plans and client requirements into appropriate furniture solutions across the five Haworth Lifestyle brands.
  • Prepare furniture layouts showing product placement across the different lines, dimensions and overall spatial relationships.
  • Review architectural drawings and coordinate furniture plans with existing conditions, architectural elements, and project requirements.
  • Develop preliminary furniture specifications and schedules to support project development.
  • Assist with furniture selection based on aesthetics, functionality, dimensions, performance, budget, and project requirements.
  • Produce accurate 2D CAD drawings and DWG furniture plans.
  • Develop 3D models, renderings, perspectives, and visualizations to communicate proposed furniture solutions.
  • Create furniture configurations and layouts using the company's proprietary product/configuration software and other relevant design platforms.
  • Develop elevations, furniture details, and other visual materials as required.
  • Translate product information, dimensions, finishes, materials, and configurations into clear design documentation.
  • Maintain accurate digital libraries of products, CAD blocks, 3D models, finishes, materials, and other design assets.
Client Presentations
  • Support the A&D and DOS sales teams in preparing presentations for project pitches, client meetings, showroom appointments, and design reviews.
  • Create sophisticated and visually compelling client presentations for architects, interior designers, developers, dealers, and end clients.
  • Prepare mood boards, furniture selections, product imagery, material palettes, floor plans, renderings, and product specifications.
  • Help develop customized presentations that communicate the design concept and demonstrate how the Haworth Lifestyle portfolio can address the client's requirements.
  • Participate in client presentations and design meetings as needed.
Product & Specification Support
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of the Poltrona Frau, Cassina, Cappellini, Zanotta, and Ceccotti Collezioni collections, including product dimensions, finishes, materials, upholstery options, configurations, and customization capabilities.
  • Assist sales and A&D teams with product selection, configuration, COM/COL requirements, finish selections, and technical questions.
  • Support the specification process from initial concept through quotation, order development, and final project documentation.
  • Work closely with sales, customer service, product specialists, factories, and other internal teams to ensure that proposed solutions are technically and commercially viable.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce complementary products and collections across the different brands.
  • Act as a dedicated design resource for the A&D Sales organization and DOS sales team.
  • Support business development activities by helping the sales team respond quickly and professionally to design opportunities.
  • Assist with project take-offs, furniture schedules, product selections, and preliminary pricing exercises when required.
  • Help sales professionals develop solutions that increase the likelihood of specification and project conversion.
  • Support showroom presentations, and product introductions.
  • Participate in project follow-up and maintain organized records of drawings, presentations, specifications, and revisions.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and attention to detail.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Interior Architecture, or a related field.
  • Approximately 3–5+ years of relevant professional experience, preferably within high-end furniture, interior design, architecture, hospitality, workplace, or luxury residential environments.
  • Experience working with luxury furniture or premium furniture brands.
  • Knowledge of high-end residential, hospitality, workplace, or contract furniture.
  • Strong knowledge of furniture planning and interior space planning.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD / DWG and experience producing professional furniture plans.
  • Strong 3D modeling and visualization skills.
  • Proficiency with major design and presentation software, such as:
  • SketchUp, Rhino, 3ds Max, Revit, or comparable 3D software
  • Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and InDesign
  • Microsoft Office / PowerPoint
  • Experience creating professional client-facing presentations.
  • Ability to understand architectural drawings and translate them into furniture layouts and specifications.

Technical Capability

Ability to independently produce accurate DWG drawings, furniture plans, 3D models, visualizations, and presentation materials.

Ability to understand that design recommendations must also respond to budget, availability, lead times, specifications, and project requirements.

Product Expertise

Ability to quickly develop a deep understanding of five distinctive Italian furniture collections and translate their design language into appropriate project solutions.

Client Orientation

Professional, polished, and confident when interacting with architects, designers, clients, and sales professionals.

Ability to work seamlessly between A&D, showroom sales, marketing, product, customer service, and other internal teams.

Responsiveness & Organization

Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and respond quickly to time‑sensitive sales and specification opportunities.

Success in This Role

Success will be measured by the candidate's ability to become a trusted design partner to the A&D and sales organizations and to accelerate the development and conversion of project opportunities.

The ideal candidate will not simply produce drawings; they will help the sales organization win specifications by providing designers and clients with creative, technically accurate, and commercially viable furniture solutions.

They will become a key resource for transforming a client's initial concept or floor plan into a compelling furniture proposal that showcases the combined capabilities of the Haworth Lifestyle portfolio.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $70,000–$80,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, technical capabilities, and relevant industry expertise.

In addition to base salary, the position is eligible for a performance-based incentive/bonus opportunity, subject to the company's applicable compensation plans.
