Job summary

Luckett & Farley in Louisville, KY is seeking an Interior Designer to support the design team on projects across market studios, translating design concepts into coordinated construction documents. You will collaborate with the Discipline Manager and senior designers, bringing technical and material knowledge to programming, space planning, finish selection, and design presentation.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Credentials: NCIDQ or CID certification (preferred).
  • Experience: 3–5 years in a professional interior design/architecture firm.
  • Technical Proficiency: Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Visualization: 3D modeling with SketchUp/Enscape and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Develops technical design solutions and prepares working drawings integrated into final production construction documents.
  • Collaborates to develop design concepts that are creative, practical, and aligned with client goals and budget.
  • Prepares programming documents, space plans, elevations, details, and schedules using Revit.
  • Selects and specifies furniture, fixtures, equipment, artwork, and signage.

Role Summary

As an Interior Designer at Luckett & Farley, you support the interior design team on projects across our market studios, helping translate design concepts into coordinated, buildable construction documents. Working in collaboration with the Discipline Manager and senior designers, you bring technical and material knowledge to the team while contributing directly to programming, space planning, finish selection, and presentation of design work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops technical design solutions; prepares working drawings and incorporates them into final production construction documents in conjunction with architects, engineers, and consultants.
  • Collaborates to develop design concepts that are creative, practical, and responsive to the intended purpose, function, client goals, and project budget.
  • Prepares programming documents, space plans, elevations, details, and schedules using Revit.
  • Selects and specifies furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E), artwork, accessories, and signage.
Productivity & Coordination(Productivity)
  • Orders samples from vendors, supports management of the resource library, and aids in scheduling of all vendor meetings and presentations.
  • Operates in a cross-functional capacity; as workflow demands change, supports other production requirements as part of the project team.
  • Actively supports the strategic goals of the firm, department, managers, and director.
Client & Project Delivery(Client)
  • Actively participates in internal project meetings during schematic, design, and construction phases.
  • Prepares presentation boards and renderings that further communicate design intent, and participates in client design presentations.
Sustainable Materials & Design(Sustainability)
  • Develops finish selections by applying current research and manufacturer data to ensure appropriate and sustainable material use in relation to the project program.
Collaboration & Professional Growth(Employee)
  • Presents verbal and written communication in a clear, concise, and professional manner at all times.
  • Builds working relationships with architects, engineers, and consultants across disciplines to incorporate design work into a coordinated set of construction documents.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited institution, Required

Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in a professional interior design or architecture firm, Required

Technical Proficiency: Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite, Required

Visualization & Graphics: Proficiency in 3D modeling with SketchUp and Enscape, and in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), Preferred

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, Required
