Job summary

Expleo USA is seeking an Interior Accessories Design & Release Engineer to join a dynamic team in Troy, Michigan. You will design and release interior components for Mopar programs, collaborate with suppliers, and drive robust validation and project tracking.

Your work will involve PD process, GD&T, DFMEA/PPAP familiarity, and CAD tooling experience to ensure on-time launches and cost savings. Expleo offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience designing automotive interior accessories.
• Experience with plastic injection molded components and interior materials.
• Familiarity with GD&T and PPAP is a plus.
• Experience with OEM release systems and CAD tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage Source Package documents.
• Review suppliers’ technical submissions and support supplier selection.
• Design and release new interior accessories and components for Mopar programs.
• Support supplier development activities as needed.
• Support prototype efforts to demonstrate early proof of concept.
• Host weekly engineering development meetings with suppliers and Mopar team members.
• Lead vehicle and system-level testing for assigned projects.
• Approve PPAP documents (Drawings, Dimensional Reports, Validation Documentation).
• Track and manage projects to support on-time program launches.
• Lead engineering change management activities for assigned components.
• Manage root cause analysis and resolution of quality concerns tracked through GIMs.
• Drive cost savings initiatives for assigned components through technical and commercial improvements.

EXPLEO USA is looking for an Interior Accessories Design & Release Engineer to join a dynamic and expanding team in Troy, Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage Source Package documents.
• Support Mopar Purchasing in reviewing suppliers’ technical submissions and supplier selection activities.
• Design and release new Interior Accessories and components for Mopar accessory programs.
• Support component supplier development activities as needed.
• Support component and vehicle prototype efforts to demonstrate early proof of concept.
• Host weekly engineering development meetings with suppliers and Mopar team members.
• Lead vehicle and system-level testing for assigned projects.
• Approve Engineering PPAP documents (Drawings, Dimensional Reports, Validation Documentation).
• Track and manage projects to support on-time program launches.
• Lead engineering change management activities for assigned components.
• Manage root cause analysis and resolution of assigned quality concerns tracked through GIMs.
• Drive cost savings initiatives for assigned components through both technical and commercial improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proven experience designing and releasing automotive interior accessories and components, including floor mats, cargo management systems, interior trim, organizers, console accessories, sill plates, seat-back accessories, storage solutions, protective interior components, or similar products.
• Experience working with plastic injection molded components, soft trim materials, textiles, foam, decorative surfaces, and interior assembly systems.
• Understanding of automotive product development, supplier management, validation, and launch processes.
• Knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, and PPAP processes is a plus.
• Experience with automotive OEM release systems and CAD tools is preferred.
