Job summary

QTS Data Centers seeks an experienced Interior Design / Project Manager to lead interior programs across several campuses. You will collaborate with design, construction, and FF&E teams to drive schedules, budgets, and quality, while guiding processes and tracking progress for executive reviews.

The role requires 3+ years in commercial construction/interior design with proficiency in Bluebeam, Smartsheet, Revit, and AutoCAD, plus up to 50% travel and US citizenship for federal contracts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Engineering, Architecture or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years in commercial construction/interior design and project delivery from concept to close-out.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, MS Office and Smartsheet for tracking updates.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multi-phased interior and exterior start-up and upgrade projects across multiple campuses.
  • Support Interior Design Project Managers on complex projects.
  • Coordinate with design, construction, and FF&E vendors to implement standardized interiors programs.
  • Prepare scopes of work and sketches for design, construction, furniture, AV, and services.
  • Oversee on-site activities like pre-installation verification and punch walks; track issues to close.
  • Provide regular executive-level updates on design and construction status.
  • Review invoices, pay apps, and change orders; assist with funding coordination.
  • Represent QTS in design and OAC meetings; improve project management processes.

Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following. Other duties may be assigned. Manage concurrent multi-phased interior and exterior start-up and upgrade projects (e.g. office) on several campuses to achieve schedule, budget, and quality standards in a predictable fashion. Support Interior Design Project Managers on complex projects. Support and guide lower position for processes, program platforms and project tracking/management tools. Collaborate with QTS design, construction, and FF&E consultants and vendors to implement the standardized corporate interiors program for new greenfield data center developments and renovations of existing facilities. Write scopes of work and sketch concepts for design, construction, furniture, audio/visual, & artistic services enabling procurement and project cost estimates. Support on-site activities, such as pre-installation verification, architectural punch walks, FF&E install activities, and post-installation FF&E punch walks; track punch issues for timely closeout. Create and communicate updates on interior design and construction status on a regular basis suitable for executive-level reviews. Ensure appropriate interior and architectural submittals are coordinated with vendors and internal stakeholders. Review and approve monthly invoices and pay applications. Review change order requests from vendors and contractors and negotiate pricing, coordinating with Development PMs; collaborate with Development Capital team to source appropriate funding. Represent QTS interests as participant in design & OAC weekly meetings (may lead weekly discussions, where applicable). Work with the internal Development team to enhance project management processes and protocols. Create & build relationships that enhance QTS’s ability to be the leader in creating the World’s Most Valuable Data Center Real Estate.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Engineering, Architecture or equivalent professional experience. A combination of three or more years of intern or professional experience in commercial construction/interior design practices and procedures, and project delivery methods from conceptual development through procurement to close out. Experience with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office suite, Power Point specifically Smartsheet for tracking and producing project updates to executive level. Revit and AutoCAD experience preferred. Travel estimated at 50%. US Citizenship for this position is required by law due to federal customer contract.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of architectural modeling and drafting software.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of interior design principles, commercial construction practices, and project delivery methods from concept through closeout. Understanding of design and construction documentation, including scopes of work, punch lists, submittals, and change orders. Familiarity with building codes, ADA requirements, and workplace standards for office and data center environments. Working knowledge of project budgeting, cost estimating, invoicing, and procurement processes. Proficient in tracking project schedules, budgets, and punch lists to ensure timely and quality execution. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey technical information to executive and non-technical audiences. Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple campuses and collaborate with diverse internal and external teams. Ability to work independently with limited oversight while maintaining strong attention to detail. Ability to maintain flexibility in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and timelines.
