Job summary

The Art & Design department at CCBC invites applications for part-time instructors in Interior Design. Courses include Introduction to Interior Design, Drafting and Sketching, Historic Interiors, Textiles, Rendering, Materials and Resources, and Portfolio development.

Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s in Interior Design (or related field with interior design credits) and 2–3 years in design plus teaching experience. Proficiency with MS Office and classroom tech is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field with interior design coursework.
  • Three years’ experience in commercial, residential or kitchen and bath design.
  • Two years of teaching experience, preferably at college level.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office; classroom tech and LMS experience preferred.
  • Membership with ASID, IIDA, NKBA and/or IDEC preferred; related certifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfills department and college responsibilities as directed by the program director/course coordinator.
  • Abides by college policies regarding classroom conduct.
  • Ensures instruction meets NASAD accreditation standards.
  • Employs diverse teaching strategies for a varied student population.
  • Adheres to class/lab schedule and develops an appropriate syllabus.
  • Ensures program evaluation methods are applied consistently.
  • Monitors student performance and provides timely feedback.

The Art & Design department seeks part time day, evening, andweekend instructors in Interior Design. Instructors are needed forcourses including Introduction to Interior Design, Drafting andSketching for Interior Design, Historic Interiors, Textiles forInterior Design, Rendering and Presentation Techniques for InteriorDesign, Materials and Resources for Interior Design, Residentialand Commercial Design, Business Practices for Interior Design andPortfolio and Marketing.

Level 1 - $1,085 per credit hour.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design; or Bachelor’s degree inrelated field with 18 credits in Interior Design; or Bachelor’sdegree in Art with qualifying equivalency/portfolio and successfulexperience in the interior design industry
  • Three (3) years’ experience in commercial, residential orkitchen and bath design.
  • Two years of teaching experience, preferably at a collegelevel
  • Proficient computer skills and Microsoft applicationsknowledge
  • Experience using classroom technology and learning managementsystems preferred
  • Current membership with ASID, IIDA, NKBA and/or IDECpreferred
  • NICIDQ and LEED, NCIDQ, CKBD, LEED, and WELL Buildingcertification preferred.

  • Employs a variety of teaching strategies to meet a diversestudent population

  • Develops a course syllabus that is in keeping with program andCollege policies
  • Ensures that program specific evaluation methods areadministered and completed in a consistent and equitablemanner
  • Assure that evaluation methods are appropriate and effectivelyassessing the established course objectives
  • Monitors student performance on a regular basis and providesfeedback within a reasonable timeframe to students

The Roth403(b) savings feature is only offered by the following vendors:TIAA-CREF and VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. Adjunct Faculty, PartTime Associates and Full Time employees are eligible to save forretirement using the Roth 403(b) savings feature. Employees maycontribute traditional pre-tax 403(b) dollars and Roth 403(b)post-tax dollars simultaneously. The savings limits are combinedfor the Traditional 403(b) and the Roth 403(b) contributions.
  • Deferred Compensation Plan — 457(b) offered through VOYAFinancial Advisors, Inc. The 457(b) salary reduction authorizationform is needed. The form is available on SharePoint Forms/HumanResources Forms.
