Job summary

Vaco is seeking an Interim Staff Accountant in the Northeast San Antonio area. The role will support day-to-day accounting activities and month-end close in a small, collaborative team. It is primarily onsite with a potential remote day per week as needed.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of accounting experience, strong US GAAP knowledge, and hands-on bank reconciliations experience. This contract position offers competitive hourly pay and a March 31, 2027 end date.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Hands-on experience with bank and account reconciliations.
• Experience with cash management or treasury-related activities.
• Strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end close activities and coordination across the accounting team.
• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Perform bank and general ledger account reconciliations and research discrepancies.
• Post daily cash receipts and wire activity.
• Prepare daily cash flow reporting.
• Handle positive pay uploads and resolve exceptions.
• Post cost transfers and related accounting activity.
• Assist with WIP schedule maintenance and reconciliations.
• Support fixed asset accounting and reconciliations to operational systems.
• Assist with license management and tracking for entities, contractors, and other required business licenses.
• Support the accounting team through organizational and entity changes.
• Assist with annual audit requests and supporting schedules.
• Prepare monthly sales tax reconciliations and assist with filing and payment.
