Job summary

The Inspired Teaching Demonstration School in Washington, DC seeks a Special Education Teacher to support students with exceptionalities by co-planning and co-teaching with general education teachers and drafting IEPs.

You will implement research-based interventions, maintain compliance with policies, and collaborate with families, while adopting restorative justice practices and contributing to a professional learning community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
• Master’s degree in Special Education preferred.
• Experience with Special Education and/or content Praxis exams is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Co-teach core content subjects with a general education teacher, including co-planning and differentiating instruction.
• Provide specialized instruction for students with IEPs outside general education via interventions (training provided).
• Draft IEP present levels, goals, and progress reports in Special Programs.
• Assist in policies for identification, evaluation, and placement of students with disabilities.
• Develop positive relationships with parents of students with disabilities.
• Case manage assigned students and ensure IEP implementation across classes.
• Adopt restorative justice orientation toward discipline and maintain responsibilities for supervision.
• Collaborate with Director of Special Education and Compliance Managers to meet deadlines and compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Head of School.
