Our client, a public technology company, is seeking a SOX Controls Testing Consultant to provide short-term support across its internal controls and compliance program.

This role is on-site in the San Francisco Bay Area, and has an anticipated duration of approximately six weeks, beginning in mid-October 2026.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct and document SOX walkthroughs with business and finance process owners
• Review process narratives and risk-control matrices to validate key controls and testing attributes
• Perform tests of design and operating effectiveness for manual and automated controls
• Select testing samples, evaluate supporting evidence, and document conclusions in audit-ready workpapers
• Coordinate evidence requests and follow up with stakeholders across Accounting, Finance, and Operations

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in public accounting, SOX compliance, internal audit, or a related controls-focused function
• Public accounting experience and progress toward CPA certification required; completed CPA preferred
• Hands-on experience conducting SOX walkthroughs and performing tests of design and operating effectiveness
• Strong knowledge of internal controls, risk-control matrices, process narratives, audit workpapers, and the COSO framework
• Ability to work on-site for the full engagement and independently produce clear, audit-ready documentation
