Job summary

Winston Manor in Chicago, IL is seeking an experienced Interim Social Services Director to lead our Social Services Department during a transitional period. The role focuses on continuity of operations, resident-focused care, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team in an ICF setting.

You will oversee daily operations, support staff, document psychosocial needs, and facilitate care planning and resident conferences while upholding resident rights and quality of life.

Qualifications

• Education and experience appropriate for Social Services responsibilities in a long-term care or ICF setting.
• Previous supervisory or department leadership experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of resident-centered care and psychosocial services.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Social Services Department.
• Provide guidance and support to Social Services staff.
• Ensure resident psychosocial needs are identified, addressed, and documented.
• Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and resident conferences.
• Assist residents and families with psychosocial concerns and resources.
• Ensure Social Services documentation is completed accurately and timely.
• Collaborate with nursing, rehabilitation services, behavioral health, activities, dietary, and other departments.
• Assist with resident admissions, transfers, discharges, and care transitions.
• Address resident and family concerns professionally and timely.
• Promote resident rights, dignity, independence, and quality of life.
• Assist with maintaining department compliance with facility policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Participate in facility meetings, audits, surveys, and quality improvement initiatives as needed.
• Provide continuity and stability within the department during the interim assignment.
• Perform additional Social Services responsibilities as assigned by facility leadership.

Winston Manor is seeking an experienced and compassionate Interim Social Services Director to provide leadership and support to our Social Services Department.

This interim role is ideal for a social services professional who is comfortable stepping into a leadership position, maintaining department operations, supporting residents and families, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team in an ICF environment.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

• Education and experience appropriate for Social Services responsibilities in a long-term care or ICF setting

• Previous Social Services experience in long-term care, behavioral health, ICF, or a related healthcare environment preferred

• Previous supervisory or department leadership experience preferred

• Strong knowledge of resident-centered care and psychosocial services

• Strong documentation, organization, and time-management skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, staff, and interdisciplinary team members

• Professional, compassionate, dependable, and able to provide leadership during a period of transition
