Job description

Launch is a certified minority and woman owned staffing firm, focused on direct hire placements in finance and accounting. Our client is a boutique professional services firm based in Colorado, providing interim and fractional finance leadership to growing and transitioning organizations. They value collaboration, integrity, and excellence — helping clients bridge transitions with confidence. They are currently looking to add an Interim Senior Accountant to join the team as a 1099 independent contractor.

This is a hands‑on, roll‑up‑your‑sleeves role where you will lead the client’s accounting and finance operations and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting during the assignment. You will have the opportunity to work with clients across a variety of industries and company sizes.

Why Interim is different from a part‑time/fractional role

You may receive guidance from your Controller/CFO or our team, but in some cases may be the primary accounting contact for the client and you will take full ownership of your accounting responsibilities during the assignment. The assignment is time‑limited, typically 3–6 months, with full time (or near full time) expected hours, and with a clear hand‑off expectation to the next permanent hire. You will operate at a pace and responsibility level consistent with an embedded interim professional, not a light‑support or fractional role. We value team collaboration and provide the support you need to deliver excellent results.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Customer billings & collections
  • Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Credit card and bank transaction entries and coding
  • Month, quarter, and year‑end close in conjunction with the Controller
  • Reconciling the balance sheet and preparing financial statements
  • Assisting in annual audit preparation
  • Making recommendations for development or improvement of accounting systems, programs, and procedures
  • Performing other accounting duties as assigned by the Controller or CFO
  • Document processes and prepare for smooth hand‑off to permanent finance leadership
Competencies & Qualities
  • Strong written and verbal business acumen
  • Strategic thinking
  • Problem solving and analysis
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and GL oversight
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Clear and concise communication skills
  • Great organization skills
  • Tech‑savvy
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficiency with common finance and accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Expensify, Bill.com
Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting (required)
  • 5+ years of experience in a fast‑paced accounting department
  • Working knowledge of tax filings such as 1099s and sales tax forms
  • Working knowledge of ASC 606
  • Colorado residents will be considered first
Engagement Details
  • Contract (1099) status
  • Flexible hours but availability to meet client needs is expected
  • Typically 3-6 months (or until permanent replacement is onboard)
  • Compensation: $40–45 per hour based on experience
  • Please note that this is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity and applying to this position does not guarantee immediate placement or assignment. While we actively seek to place our consultants with clients, work availability is not guaranteed and may vary based on client needs and market demand. We appreciate your interest and understanding of the dynamic nature of consulting work.
