the job:

this role will provide maternity leave coverage for amika's manager, product marketing, covering dry shampoo, body/fragrance, and additional hair category support across wash care and treatments.

as the interim manager, product marketing, you'll step into an active, in-motion portfolio and keep it moving. you'll manage day-to-day execution across product launches, packaging, claims, and go-to-market readiness, partnering closely with product development, regulatory, creative, sales, and finance to keep programs on track. you'll take direction from the director of global product marketing on strategy and priorities, and focus on strong, reliable execution across the categories you're covering. this is a fixed-term role running from approximately mid-september through mid-march, covering a maternity leave and the returning team member's ramp-back period.

reporting to the director of global product marketing, this role is ideal for someone who can move quickly, get up to speed on an existing portfolio with minimal ramp time, and provide continuity for the team and cross-functional partners during the transition.

location:

must be based in New York or California + have the right to work in the U.S.

what you'll do:
portfolio management & launch execution
  • manage day-to-day execution across dry shampoo, body/fragrance, and other assigned hair categories, keeping active launches and workstreams on track
  • maintain continuity on in-flight projects, picking up existing timelines, briefs, and stakeholder relationships without requiring a restart
  • manage pricing recommendations, sku tracking, and sample development coordination across the covered portfolio
  • flag any decisions that need the director's or vp's input
new product launch coordination
  • own the end-to-end coordination of new product launches within the covered portfolio, from development milestones through market launch
  • prepare and maintain product development briefs (pdrs), packaging briefs, and launch kickoff documentation, keeping rationale, objectives, and timelines current
  • drive cross-functional alignment across product development, brand marketing, creative, sales, operations, regulatory, and finance to keep launches moving on schedule
  • manage key workstreams including pricing, packaging and artwork development, claims strategy, copy development, creative asset needs, and legal/regulatory routing
  • prepare and present launch materials and stage gate updates, keeping leadership informed and momentum moving on development milestones
go-to-market support
  • maintain product positioning, messaging, and claims consistency across gtm materials for the covered portfolio partner with brand marketing and creative teams to keep product storytelling and claims communication aligned with amika's brand equity and campaign objectives
  • support go-to-market readiness, making sure cross-functional teams have the tools, messaging, and product information needed to activate launches on schedule
  • maintain and update launch toolkits, including product education, claims guidance, and copy for internal and external partners
business analysis & competitive insights
  • track category, competitive, and performance data (e.g., circana, kline, mintel, internal sales, crm) to keep the team informed during the transition
  • maintain competitive audits across relevant categories and channels, flagging notable shifts in pricing, claims, or packaging
  • monitor post-launch performance for the covered portfolio and flag opportunities or risks to the director
cross-functional coordination
  • serve as the day-to-day point of contact for product development, regulatory, finance, and operations partners on the covered portfolio
  • maintain testing and claims development workflows in partnership with product development and regulatory teams
  • keep development milestones, timelines, and trackers current so the team has full visibility during the transition
  • prepare a clear handoff at the end of the assignment, documenting status, open items, and context for a smooth transition back
must haves:
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in product marketing, brand management, or a related function, ideally within prestige beauty or haircare
  • comfortable stepping into an existing, in-motion portfolio and getting up to speed quickly with minimal ramp time
  • strong project management instincts, with the ability to manage multiple launches and workstreams at once without losing detail
  • confident partnering cross-functionally with product development, regulatory, creative, sales, operations, and finance
  • comfortable operating with a good amount of autonomy day-to-day, while knowing when to flag strategic decisions to the director
  • analytical and detail-oriented, with experience using category, competitive, or syndicated data (e.g., circana, kline, mintel) to inform decisions
  • a clear, organized communicator who can keep cross-functional partners aligned and informed during a transition period
  • comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment, and open to a role that may extend or evolve based on business needs

what you'll love about this role real ownership from day one- you'll manage an active, established portfolio rather than starting something from scratch

  • hands-on experience across product launches, gtm strategy, and commercial innovation within a fast-growing prestige haircare brand
  • close partnership with product development, brand marketing, creative, and leadership across a meaningful chunk of amika's hair portfolio
  • a collaborative team environment that values reliability and clear communication, especially during a transition
  • the potential for this role to extend or convert to a permanent position, depending on evolving business needs
