Job summary

Healthcare Executive Placements, Inc. (HCEPInc) is seeking an Interim Nurse Manager, Utilization Management for a W-2 contract position in Downey, CA. You will lead 24-hour departments, ensure high-quality, cost-effective patient care, and align services with regulatory standards.

The role requires extensive nursing leadership experience, knowledge of applicable laws, and strong interpersonal skills. Schedule is 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, 13 weeks with extension potential.

Qualifications

• BSN or BA in health care related field strongly preferred; Masters degree considered
• CPR certificate required
• Extensive nursing experience in patient care and management/leadership roles (~5 years)
• Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission and other regulations required
• Previous supervisory experience (~4 years) and strong interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Manages the operations of 24-hour departments that may be at multiple locations
• Ensures staff provide high quality care and are compliant with regulations
• Establishes and maintains patient care standards to meet expectations
• Designs and evaluates processes to improve care across the continuum
• Develops and monitors budgets for resource use
• Monitors financial performance and identifies cost- saving opportunities
• Determines staff mix and oversees hiring, training and competency
• Ensures staff development and enforces policies and procedures
• Oversees standards of care, fiscal management and quality improvement
• Manages HR, safety and risk management issues
