Position Overview

Our client is seeking an Interim HRIS Lead to provide hands-on technical leadership and operational support across its HR technology environment while the company recruits a permanent Director.

This working manager will partner with the existing HRIS contractor, reporting and analytics employee, IT, and external providers to maintain reliable daily operations and advance critical integrations and system enhancements.

The successful candidate will quickly learn a complex, customized systems environment, troubleshoot issues, coordinate competing priorities, and contribute directly to the work. The role’s primary focus is daily HRIS operations and execution of the existing project portfolio, with potential consultative input into a separately led HCM selection initiative.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on leadership and technical support for daily HRIS operations, critical incidents, system enhancements, and project delivery.
  • Work alongside the HRIS contractor and reporting and analytics employee to prioritize requests, clarify responsibilities, and maintain service continuity.
  • Troubleshoot system and data issues across the homegrown SQL-based intranet, Dayforce, and connected HR platforms.
  • Support accurate employee and organizational data across systems with differing structures, including legal entities, general ledger information, divisions, and locations.
  • Support Dayforce configuration and coordinate system changes with internal partners and external providers.
  • Translate HR business needs into technical requirements and partner with IT and third-party developers on enhancements to the customized intranet.
  • Coordinate integrations supporting leave of absence, HSA administration, and retirement benefits, with attention to data accuracy and payroll impacts.
  • Support U.S. and global acquisitions through employee-data and system configuration changes.
  • Advance enhancements to the annual salary-increase process, including compensation midpoint configuration and related data elements.
  • Manage the project and enhancement backlog, identify dependencies, coordinate resources, and communicate progress and issues.
  • Partner with payroll, benefits, and other HR stakeholders on year-end activities and ongoing operational needs.
  • Use ServiceNow to support HR ticket management and timely issue resolution.
  • Support the transition of active projects and system knowledge to the permanent leader.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated hands-on HRIS or HR technology experience, with the ability to operate as a working manager or technical team lead.
  • Experience supporting complex HR systems, integrations, employee data, and organizational structures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot data and configuration issues and translate business needs into actionable technical requirements.
  • Experience coordinating external vendors, IT partners, and HR stakeholders to deliver integrations and enhancements.
  • Ability to balance urgent operational requests with a substantial project backlog in a lean team environment.
  • Understanding of how HR technology supports payroll, timekeeping, benefits, compensation, onboarding, and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Strong communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • A collaborative, accountable approach and willingness to personally execute the work.
  • Availability during Eastern time business hours and willingness to travel as needed.
Preferred Experience
  • Hands-on Dayforce configuration experience, particularly in payroll, timekeeping, and absence-related processes.
  • Experience supporting global HR operations and acquisition-related system changes.
  • Familiarity with customized SQL-based HR systems and complex data mappings. SQL programming is not required.
  • Experience with ServiceNow HR ticketing and iCIMS.
  • An IT background or experience partnering closely with developers and integration teams.
Immediate Priorities
  • Establish dependable coverage for daily HRIS issues and critical requests.
  • Organize and advance the integration and enhancement portfolio.
  • Strengthen coordination among HR, IT, vendors, and the existing team.
