Job summary

Bet Tzedek Legal Services is seeking an Interim Directing Attorney to lead three housing-focused teams, overseeing legal services, litigation, and grant compliance. The role emphasizes strategic program coordination across multiple tenant defense programs and trauma-informed advocacy.

The position is hybrid/remote, with primary office work in Southern California and occasional in-person duties as needed. A candidate must have California Bar admission and extensive nonprofit legal leadership

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of legal experience preferred.
• State Bar of California membership required.
• Experience managing large and varied teams in nonprofit/legal services is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of attorney ethics and law office management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and mentor multiple advocacy programs and Directing Attorneys.
• Coordinate program data collection, reporting, and impact measurement.
• Oversee recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and staff development.
• Manage budgets, grants, contracts, and internal controls.
• Collaborate with departments to ensure policy adherence and DEI practices.
