Job summary

B.E. Smith Leadership Solutions is seeking an Interim Director of Surgical Services in Anchorage, Alaska.

This role oversees a broad Surgical Services portfolio across Pre-Op, Ambulatory Surgery, OR, PACU, Endoscopy, Pain Services, and Sterile Processing, providing interim operational and nursing leadership. The position focuses on safe, efficient, patient-centered care, optimizing staffing and workflows, and advancing strategic perioperative initiatives with physician and interdisciplinary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Active AK RN license required.
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide interim operational and nursing leadership across Pre-Op, Ambulatory Surgery, Operating Room, PACU, Endoscopy, Pain Services, and Sterile Processing.
• Lead clinical and operational performance to ensure safe, efficient, patient-centered care while optimizing staffing, resources, workflows, and financial performance.
• Partner with physicians and interdisciplinary stakeholders to strengthen surgical operations and advance perioperative strategic initiatives.
• Champion quality, patient safety, evidence-based practice, regulatory readiness, and nursing standards while fostering accountability and shared governance.
• Develop leaders and frontline teams through coaching, succession planning, and initiatives that support workforce well-being and sustained performance.
• Start within 2–3 weeks of acceptance.
