Responsibilities

• Provide interim operational and nursing leadership across a comprehensive Surgical Services portfolio (Pre-Op, Ambulatory Surgery, OR, PACU, Endoscopy, Pain Services, Sterile Processing).
• Lead clinical and operational performance across a high-volume surgical environment, ensuring safe, efficient, patient-centered care while optimizing staffing, resources, workflows, and financial performance.
• Partner with physician leaders and interdisciplinary stakeholders to strengthen surgical operations, support service development, and advance perioperative strategic initiatives.
• Champion quality, patient safety, regulatory readiness, and nursing standards while fostering accountability and shared governance.
• Develop and engage leaders and frontline teams through clear expectations, coaching, and succession planning to support workforce well-being and sustained performance.
• Must be available to start within 2–3 weeks of acceptance.

An Alaska medical center is seeking their next Interim Director, Surgical Services!

The Position

• An Interim Director, Surgical Services, is needed to provide interim operational and nursing leadership across a comprehensive Surgical Services portfolio, including Pre-Op, Ambulatory Surgery, Operating Room, PACU, Endoscopy, Pain Services, and Sterile Processing.
• Lead clinical and operational performance across a high-volume surgical environment, ensuring safe, efficient, patient-centered care while optimizing staffing, resources, workflows, and financial performance.
• The Interim Director will partner with physician leaders and interdisciplinary stakeholders to strengthen surgical operations, support service development, and advance strategic initiatives across the perioperative continuum.
• Champion quality, patient safety, evidence-based practice, regulatory readiness, and professional nursing standards while advancing a culture of accountability, shared governance, and nursing autonomy.
• Develop and engage leaders and frontline teams through clear expectations, coaching, professional development, succession planning, and initiatives that support workforce well-being, retention, and sustained performance.
• Must be available to start within 2–3 weeks of acceptance.

Compensation Details

• Compensation Range: $175,000 to $180,000 annually.
• The final compensation rate will be determined based on experience, education, training, location, internal equity, and budget considerations, in accordance with Fair Market Value evaluation. Additionally, some candidates may be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, depending on the specific role, including but not limited to health insurance coverage and retirement benefits.
• The listed base compensation range represents a good faith estimate of potential earnings at the time of this job posting and may be subject to future adjustments.
