AMN Healthcare Leadership Solutions | B.E. Smith seeks an Interim Director of Surgical Services in Anchorage, Alaska to provide interim operational and nursing leadership across Pre-Op, Ambulatory Surgery, OR, PACU, Endoscopy, and related services.

The role collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize staffing, workflows, and financial performance while maintaining safety, quality, and regulatory readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Active AK RN license is required.
• A minimum of five years of relative leadership experience is required.

The Position

• An Interim Director, Surgical Services, is needed to provide interim operational and nursing leadership across a comprehensive Surgical Services portfolio, including Pre-Op, Ambulatory Surgery, Operating Room, PACU, Endoscopy, Pain Services, and Sterile Processing.
• Lead clinical and operational performance across a high-volume surgical environment, ensuring safe, efficient, patient-centered care while optimizing staffing, resources, workflows, and financial performance.
• The Interim Director will partner with physician leaders and interdisciplinary stakeholders to strengthen surgical operations, support service development, and advance strategic initiatives across the perioperative continuum.
• Champion quality, patient safety, evidence-based practice, regulatory readiness, and professional nursing standards while advancing a culture of accountability, shared governance, and nursing autonomy.
• Develop and engage leaders and frontline teams through clear expectations, coaching, professional development, succession planning, and initiatives that support workforce well-being, retention, and sustained performance.
• Must be available to start within 2-3 weeks of acceptance.

Compensation Details

• Compensation Range: $175,000 to $180,000 annually.
• The final compensation rate will be determined based on experience, education, training, location, internal equity, and budget considerations, in accordance with Fair Market Value evaluation. Additionally, some candidates may be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, depending on the specific role, including but not limited to health insurance coverage and retirement benefits.
• The listed base compensation range represents a good faith estimate of potential earnings at the time of this job posting and may be subject to future adjustments.
