Position: Interim Director of FP&A

Location: Remote (Preferred candidates in Eastern or Central Time Zones)

Duration: 3-Month Contract (Potential for Extension)

Client: Private Equity-Backed Construction & HVAC Company

Our client, a private equity-backed leader in the construction and HVAC space, is seeking an experienced Interim Director of FP&A to support the finance function during a critical period of growth and transition. This role is fully remote, with light travel to operational sites in the NYC metro area and Florida, and is ideal for a strategic finance leader with deep experience in the construction industry, particularly in areas such as deferred revenue, percentage-of-completion accounting, and WIP (Work-in-Progress) analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all FP&A functions, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and monthly reporting.
• Build and refine financial models that support project profitability, cash flow forecasting, and revenue recognition, specifically under ASC 606.
• Partner with the CFO and operational leaders to assess business performance and identify opportunities to improve margin, efficiency, and visibility.
• Own WIP and deferred revenue modeling to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and reporting needs.
• Support strategic initiatives including system optimization, integration planning, and performance dashboards for PE sponsors.
• Deliver clear, concise presentations and reporting packages for internal stakeholders and private equity partners.
• Work cross-functionally to ensure finance alignment with project managers, operations, and accounting.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of progressive FP&A or strategic finance experience, with at least 5 years in the construction industry.
• Strong command of construction accounting principles, including WIP schedules, job costing, and revenue recognition (ASC 606).
• Experience in PE-backed environments and working with senior leadership and investment partners.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with construction ERP systems a plus (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage, CMiC).
• Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and deliver under tight timelines.
