Qualifications

• Significant Controller-level accounting experience.
• Strong manufacturing cost accounting and standard costing expertise.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting and consolidations.
• Cash management and working capital experience.
• CPA preferred; PE-backed or middle-market exposure is a plus.
• Onsite Long Island (3 days per week) is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting and month-end close across multiple entities.
• Oversee consolidations and timely financial reporting.
• Strengthen cost accounting and standard costing processes.
• Improve gross margin visibility by SKU, customer, and product.
• Oversee inventory accounting, COGS, variances, labor absorption, and material costs.
• Partner with operations to improve manufacturing cost reporting.
• Manage cash flow, forecasting, and working capital.
• Review processes and master data to drive improvements.
• Provide hands-on leadership to the accounting team.
• Support financial integration and reporting for multi-site organization.

Pay Rate: $100-$115/hour

Position Overview:

Our client, a growing private equity-backed manufacturing organization, is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to provide hands-on leadership across its accounting and financial reporting function.

This individual will oversee a multi-entity accounting environment and play a critical role in strengthening cost accounting, standard costing, gross-margin visibility, consolidations, and overall financial controls. The ideal candidate will bring deep manufacturing accounting experience and be comfortable operating in a lean, hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting and month-end close process across multiple entities and manufacturing locations
• Oversee consolidations and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting
• Strengthen the company's cost accounting and standard costing processes
• Improve visibility into gross margin by SKU, customer, product, and other key dimensions
• Oversee inventory accounting, COGS, purchase price variances, production variances, labor absorption, and material costs
• Partner with operations to improve manufacturing cost and profitability reporting
• Manage cash flow, cash forecasting, and working capital
• Review existing accounting processes, controls, and master data and identify areas for improvement
• Provide hands-on leadership and support to the accounting team
• Support the financial integration and reporting needs of a growing, multi-site organization

Qualifications

• Significant Controller-level accounting experience
• Strong manufacturing industry experience required
• Deep cost accounting and standard costing expertise required
• Strong knowledge of COGS, inventory accounting, manufacturing variances, and gross-margin analysis
• Experience managing multi-entity accounting and consolidations
• Strong month-end close and financial reporting background
• Cash management and working-capital experience
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience strongly preferred
• Experience within a private equity-backed or middle-market organization preferred
• Multi-site manufacturing and acquisition-related experience highly desirableCPA preferred
• Ability to work onsite on Long Island 3 days per week
