Job summary

E78 Talent is recruiting for a Fractional CFO/Controller for a private equity-backed industrial manufacturer. The role is remote with Midwest on-site visits, focusing on cleaning up the books, establishing a reliable monthly close, and delivering consistent management reporting.

You’ll lead a small accounting team and support tax functions, with future forecasting and dashboards. The ideal candidate has senior accounting leadership in manufacturing, strong accrual and cost accounting experience,

Qualifications

• Senior-level accounting leadership with manufacturing experience.
• Experience with accrual accounting, inventory valuation, WIP, job costing and COGS analysis.
• Hands-on with JobBoss or similar job-shop ERP.
• Able to operate in a lean, small-team environment.
• Experience with PE-backed or owner-led industrial businesses preferred.

Responsibilities

Fractional CFO / Controller - Industrial Manufacturing (Remote)

The company

A private equity-backed industrial manufacturer in the Midwest.

The opportunity

The company is looking for a senior, hands-on finance leader for an ongoing outsourced CFO and controller role, with tax support. The business is going through a transition, and the first priority is getting the books in order: clean up the financials, set up a reliable monthly close, and deliver consistent management reporting. You'll work directly in the company's ERP and support a small, entry-level accounting team.

What you'll do

• Clean up the financials and bring the accounting to a full accrual basis
• Set up and run a dependable monthly close and management reporting package
• Own inventory valuation, work-in-progress (WIP), job costing and COGS analysis
• Work directly in JobBoss, the system of record for inventory and job-costing data
• Coach and develop the in-house accounting staff
• Provide or coordinate tax support
• Over time, build forecasting, operating dashboards and reporting that management and ownership can make decisions from

What we're looking for

• Senior accounting leadership experience in manufacturing. Contract manufacturing or job shop experience is required.
• Deep experience with accrual accounting, inventory, WIP, job costing and cost accounting
• Hands-on with JobBoss or a similar job-shop ERP
• Comfortable rolling up your sleeves in a lean, small-team environment
• Experience with PE-backed or owner-led industrial businesses (preferred)
• Familiarity with good manufacturing practices (GMP) (preferred)
• Steel fabrication or industrial repair experience (a strong plus)
