Job summary

American University is seeking an Interim Medical Director to lead the Student Health Center, overseeing clinical care for undergraduates, graduates, and law students. You will shape strategic planning, policy development, and budget management while ensuring accreditation standards and public health compliance.

The role requires an MD or DO with 8–10 years of clinical leadership experience, board certification in relevant specialties, and a DC license or eligibility.

Qualifications

• MD or DO required
• Board-certified in internal medicine, family practice, adolescent medicine, or pediatrics
• Licensed in DC or license-eligible with unrestricted license

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate Center policies and procedures.
• Oversee Student Health Insurance Program in consultation with Risk Management and Procurement.
• Provide preventive healthcare programs and appropriate referrals.
• Oversee clinical care including primary and psychiatric care and risk management.
• Supervise staff and ensure HIPAA and confidentiality compliance.
